Take OmniRide For A Better Commute!

For Immediate Release: 02/20/2025

As the federal workforce returns to in-office work, discussions around traffic and parking availability have intensified. OmniRide offers commuters better alternatives to driving alone.

Prince William County residents who commute to The Pentagon or employment centers throughout Northern Virginia and D.C. (including the State Department and the Navy Yard) can get there easier on an OmniRide Express bus. Express commuter buses originate at major commuter lots in eastern and western Prince William County, Stafford, Spotsylvania, Front Royal, Warrenton, and Haymarket and operate along the I-66 and I-95 Express Lanes. Riders can relax in comfortable seating as they bypass bumper-to-bumper traffic in the regular lanes, while preparing for or decompressing from the workday. The routes operate during morning and evening commutes with fares set at $11 with a SmarTrip card, $5.50 for I-66 Express routes, and $285 for a monthly unlimited pass to ride all OmniRide Express commuter routes. Additionally, OmniRide Metro Express buses provide easy connections to Franconia-Springfield and Tysons Corner Metro stations. For residents who live and work within the Prince William and Manassas area, OmniRide offers nine Local bus routes. To learn more information, visit https://omniride.com/service/.

In addition to transit options, OmniRide offers a free personalized ride-matching service to help commuters find a carpool or vanpool. OmniRide Ridesharing uses the Commuter Connections database to link commuters who live and work near one another and who have similar work hours. By filling out the Match Request form, you will receive a list of potential ridesharing matches. Many carpools and vanpools start at commuter lots within OmniRide’s service area, bound for destinations throughout Northern Virginia, D.C., and Maryland. Casual carpooling, known as slugging, is also a popular option in the region. Commuters can form on-the-spot carpools to take advantage of faster commute times in the Express Lanes without having to pay a toll. Drivers pick up enough passengers heading to a specific destination, allowing for a quick commute while passengers enjoy a free ride. Slugs typically catch rides at local commuter lots and at or near major employment sites in Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia. Visit Slug-Lines.org or sluglines.com for more information.

New riders are encouraged to register for OmniRide's Rider Express alert system, to receive service updates by email or text. Additionally, riders should familiarize themselves with the Emergency Service Plan to understand how OmniRide will operate during emergencies, including weather-related incidents.
