OmniRide Relocating Local Bus Operations to New Neabsco Commuter Garage

Posted: 11/20/2024

OmniRide is relocating our eastern local transfer hub to the newly opened Neabsco Commuter Garage on Opitz Boulevard in Woodbridge across from Sentara Medical Center.  Starting December 9, several routes that previously served the OmniRide Transit Center will move to the Neabsco Garage. These routes include the Dumfries Connector (53), Lake Ridge Connector (94), and East-West Express (96) Local routes. There will be timed transfers between the Local routes. The Woodbridge-Navy Yard (563) Express commuter route will serve the Neabsco Garage locally before traveling to the Pentagon/Navy Yard. The Prince William Metro Express (95) route that travels to the Franconia-Springfield Metro Station will serve both the OmniRide Transit Center and the Neabsco Garage.

This past summer, OmniRide completed a total overhaul of local routes in the eastern Prince William County area – one of the biggest service changes and expansions in the organization’s 38-year history. The restructured routes were designed to provide more efficient, streamlined, and direct service, while also expanding service to new destinations. New bus stops have been added at Potomac Center Boulevard (Stonebridge), Woodbridge and Rippon VRE stations, as well as Aldi and Target along Route 234. OmniRide also introduced our OmniRide Access paratransit service for residents with disabilities in eastern Prince William. See details of the restructured eastern Local service here.

In addition to the changes on the eastern side of the county, OmniRide will soon extend two existing western Express routes to originate at new locations in Front Royal and Warrenton. Starting December 9, the Front Royal/Gainesville-Washington (611-F) route will begin in Front Royal at the Crooked Run Park & Ride Lot, stop in Gainesville at the University Lot, and continue to Washington, D.C., following the current Gainesville-Washington (611) routing. Similarly, the Warrenton/Gainesville-Pentagon-Navy Yard (612-W) route will start in Warrenton at the Warrenton Park & Ride Lot, stop in Gainesville at the University Lot, and continue to the Pentagon and D.C., following the current Gainesville-Pentagon-L'Enfant Plaza-Navy Yard (612) routing.
